Woolwich has benefited more than almost anywhere else on the network from the new Elizabeth line, with fast services to Canary Wharf, the City and the West End and a guaranteed seat on the morning commute.

Where can I travel to from Woolwich?

The Elizabeth line’s air-conditioned trains will take you from Woolwich to:

  • Canary Wharf (8-minutes)
  • Liverpool Street (15-minutes)
  • Tottenham Court Road (20-minutes)
  • Heathrow Terminal 4 (65-minutes)

Woolwich Arsenal is also on the DLR route and Thameslink:

  • London City airport (5-minutes)
  • Bank (27-minutes)
  • London Bridge (22-minutes)

The Thames Path offers a picturesque walking route up and down the river. You can cross through the Woolwich Foot Tunnel, which is open 24 hours, or on the Woolwich Ferry (Monday to Friday only, 6am-9pm; free for cars, cyclists and pedestrians).

The Uber boat by Thames Clippers stops at Woolwich on the way to Greenwich (20 minutes), Tower Pier (42 minutes) and Embankment Pier (one hour).

Regeneration, Shopping, Bars, Restaurants & Arts to Rival London South Bank:

Woolwich aims to rival London's South Bank for the arts, with the Royal Arsenal Riverside an 88-acre development that is transforming this corner of south east London into one of the capital’s most exciting neighbourhood.

Greenwich council is building a new leisure centre with a 25-metre pool, and there are plans to remodel Beresford Square and revive the grade II listed derelict covered market on Plumstead Road.

The pedestrianised Powis Street offers a range of boutiques as well as a fantastic range of local amenities.

Woolwich's popular restaurants include Viet Baguette, ViB Bar and Mummy Pho Café, specialising in Vietnamese cuisine. Kailash Momo is a popular Nepalese restaurant and for a Sunday roast head to the Woolwich Equitable, in the building society’s art deco former HQ.
